Goa is located on the western coast (Konkan coastal belt) of the Indian peninsula. Goa shares borders with Karnataka on the East and South, with Maharashtra on the North and with the mighty Arabian Sea on the West. Goa is situated between latitudes 15 degrees 48'00" North to 14 degrees 53'54" North and Longitudes 74 degrees 20'13" East to 73 degrees 40" 33" East.
The state of Goa covers an area of approximately 3,702 square kilometers. For administrative purposes, Goa has been sub-divided into two districts, namely – South Goa and North-Goa. The tallest peaks and the biggest wildlife sanctuaries of Goa are situated on the Sahyadri range.
The Konkan coastal belt that stretches across Goa is as long as 105 kilometers. It is home to some of the most exotic beaches of Goa. Visitors throng in huge numbers to the beaches in North Goa and remain crowded all round the year. On the contrary, the beaches in South Goa remain comparatively secluded.
